"Synodality" dismantled through logic: A concerned bishop writes to the Pope.

In this analysis, His Excellency Auxiliary Bishop Robert Mutsaerts (Netherlands) may well have authored a document of historic ecclesiastical significance; he uses logic to dismantle the peculiar ideology of "synodality." At the same time, his open letter to its proponent, Pope Leo XIV, remains dignified, respectful, and marked by humble expectation.
But will Leo XIV actually practice "synodal listening and discussion" here?

Holy Father,
With reverence for the office entrusted to you as successor of Saint Peter, and in communion with the Church which Christ built upon the apostles, I address you with this open letter. I don't do so lightly. What leads me to speak these words publicly is a concern that ultimately transcends every other ecclesial consideration: the salvation of souls. Salus animarum suprema lex — the salvation of souls is the supreme law. My question is a simple and earnest one: does the synodal process actually help bring souls closer to Christ and to eternal salvation …More

When Earthly Shepherds Fail, Follow Jesus
The readings today emphasize the importance of following Jesus, the good shepherd, regardless of the shortcomings of human shepherds (priests and bishops). The need for prayer for priests and bishops is highlighted. Pray that they may experience conversion and lead their flocks to God. Ultimately, individual responsibility is needed in seeking truth, deepening prayer life, and striving for holiness, as the world needs saints.

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò: TU HONORIFICENTIA POPULI NOSTRI – Homily on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Signum magnum apparuit in cælo:
mulier amicta sole, et luna sub pedibus ejus.

A great sign appeared in the sky:
a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet.
Rev 12:1
On this holy day on which the Church – that is, the Church of all time, not the church that has become slave of the world and which believed it could even rewrite the praise due to the Mother of God – raises Her song before the mystery of the Assumption, allow me to lead you not to a fleeting pious emotion, but to that rock of sure doctrine on which the Fathers, Doctors and Supreme Pontiffs have built our certainty for centuries.
It was not a pious feeling, it was not a consolatory imagination that generated this festival which the East already knew as The Dormition since the 5th century, and which Rome itself solemnized at the hands of the Popes Sergius I and Leo IV. It was the very logic of Faith, that logic that Saint John Damascene was able to express with unmatched vigor:
«It was fitting that she who …More

Eleven year old boy sends a poem to Padre Saint Pio

Why Padre Pio Cherished This Child's Reflection on Mary. Padre Pio had a profound love for the Blessed Virgin Mary, and that love is reflected in the letters exchanged with those closest to him. One remarkable letter included a poem written by an eleven-year-old child, offering a simple yet deeply moving reflection on the mystery of Mary as the Mother of God and her unique place in God's plan of salvation.
The beauty of the Catholic faith is often found in contemplating its greatest mysteries with humility and wonder. Mary's Immaculate Conception, her perfect union with Jesus Christ, and her loving role in leading souls to her Son continue to inspire believers to grow in faith, prayer, and trust in God's providence.

Why the Church stopped teaching wives must obey: Tim Gordon’s nuclear take
Catholic author and podcaster Timothy Gordon joins John-Henry Westen for a wide-ranging conversation on feminism, traditional Catholic marriage, and the crisis of authority in the Church. Gordon draws from the Roman Catechism to argue that modern Catholics have become uncomfortable with traditional teachings on male headship and wifely obedience. He discusses his documentary What a Woman Is, the “Diaper Gate” controversy, and the backlash his positions have received, including from women who support his arguments.
They then turn to the death penalty, where Gordon challenges recent Catholic teaching restricting capital punishment. He traces the decisive break to changes under Pope John Paul II, arguing that the traditional justification rests on retributive justice, not merely preventing future crimes.
They also talk about Pope Leo XIV, the “seamless garment” approach to pro-life issues, Amoris Laetitia, and the …More

Saint Bernard Teaches: Do Not Take Your Eyes Off Our Lady

by Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira
We do well to read some advice from Saint Bernard about devotion to Our Lady. The advice is as follows:
“Oh, whosoever thou art that perceiveth thyself during this mortal existence to be rather drifting in treacherous waters, at the mercy of the winds and the waves, than walking on firm ground, turn not away thine eyes from the splendor of this guiding star, unless thou wish to be submerged by the storm!”
Passages like this are often found referring to Our Lady. Such texts represent what we might call a profoundly anti-Hollywoodian vision of life.
This modern, optimistic and wrong view creates the illusion that this life can be a phase of our existence in which we can find true happiness. Earthly life is presented to us as a rose garden, in which misfortune only happens to people by chance or bad luck.
Some people might also make a few unfortunate missteps, thus falling, hurting themselves, or collapsing definitively. However, if we manage to work around …More

'Don't you want to become a canon at St. Peter's?'" Kröger is still stunned. "I never would have dreamed of working as a priest in St. Peter's Basilica!" For a moment, he even thought Gambetti was joking...
Spiritual Conversations at the Blessing Booth Here, people can order Masses and have rosaries or Bibles blessed. "Most of the time, though, it's just a way for them to receive a blessing themselves. That's a great pastoral task because, in a very brief moment, they begin a conversation that I pick up on, and then I give them a personal blessing, ideally in their own language."
This transcends denominations and religions: "I've even had Hindus and a Jewish family come to me wanting a blessing." "Of course," I say, "we humans all need God's blessing." If the lines in front of the kiosk get too long, he sometimes gives the blessing according to language groups: in Spanish, Italian, English, and—if there are several people interested—in German.

‘Lives of the Saints for every day in a year’ by J.G. Shea; 1887; Saints of August 15 – 16; Assumption; St. Hyacinth

August 15 ~ THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY.
ON this festival, the Church commemorates the happy departure from life of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and her translation into the kingdom of her Son,
in which she received from Him a crown of immortal glory, and a throne above all the other Saints and heavenly spirits. After Christ, as the triumphant Conqueror of death and hell, ascended into heaven, His blessed Mother remained at Jerusalem, persevering in prayer with the disciples, till, with them, she had received the Holy Ghost. She lived to a very advanced age, but finally paid the common debt of nature, none among the children of Adam being exempt from that rigorous law. But the death of the Saints is rather to be called a sweet sleep than death ; much more that of the Queen of Saints, who had been exempt from all sin. It is a traditionary pious belief, that the body of the Blessed Virgin was raised by God soon after her death, and taken up to glory, by a singular privilege, …More

Robot goes crazy first day on the job.

Security camera footage from an office in China captures a startling malfunction involving a Unitree humanoid robot during what appears to be routine indoor testing or demonstration. The robot initially stands normally before suddenly erupting into violent, erratic arm movements, rapidly swinging its limbs and shifting into an aggressive looking stance that sends nearby employees rushing to intervene.
Several staff members quickly surround the machine, attempting to restrain it as it continues flailing and resisting for several tense seconds. The dramatic scene, which many online compared to a science fiction movie, ends with workers successfully bringing the robot under control. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
While the exact cause has not been publicly confirmed, incidents like this are commonly associated with software glitches, sensor failures, or control system errors during development. As humanoid robots continue expanding into workplaces, events like this highlight …More

Leo XIV appointed this guy: Peter G. Kirchschläger, 49, a social ethicist at the University of Lucerne, has called the Church’s ban on women’s ordination an unresolved human-rights problem and argued that the state should pressure the Church over it. Rejecting the argument that dissatisfied women can simply leave the Church, he responded: “That would be protecting the perpetrator.”

Leo XIV’s Newest Appointments: WEF, Agenda 2030 and Women-Must-Become-Priests

On 18 August 2026, Pope Leo XIV appointed twelve new consultors to the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development. Leo XIV fills the Vatican's social-policy apparatus with mostly anti-Catholic figures.
1. Peter G. Kirchschläger, 49, Social ethicist, University of Lucerne, Switzerland
In December 2018, he said that the Catholic Church has an unresolved human-rights problem regarding the impossibility of women's ordination to the priesthood. He even claimed that the state "may not look away" but has an obligation to press the Church on it. When presented with the argument that women dissatisfied with Catholic teaching can leave, he answered: “That would be protecting the perpetrator.”
2. Kathryn A. Koch, 45, Wall Street Finance
Kathryn Koch spent 20 years at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, became a Goldman partner and ran its approximately $300 billion public-equity business.
In 2015, Koch was selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
Since 2024, Koch has …More
