European bishops sidestep ‘Traditionis Custodes’, continuing traditional Latin Masses in parish churches without Vatican cispensations.
Last week, the Dicastery for Divine Worship published all its decrees from 2025, including permissions for the 1962 Roman Missal in parish churches.
The list shows permissions for 55 parishes in 33 dioceses. 41 of the parish-church locations in the 2025 decrees are in the United States - about 75%.
France is conspicuously absent from the 2025 index despite its importance among traditional Catholics.
No parish church in Paris appears among the Dicastery’s published dispensations in 2023, 2024 or 2025.
Obviously, there are Masses. In the Paris parish of Saint-Eugène–Sainte-Cécile, the old Mass has been celebrated since the 1980s and remains part of the daily and Sunday schedule. Sainte-Odile also lists a Sunday Mass in the 1962 rite.

Peru tributes Leo XIV with the largest statue in the world. Standing 14 meters tall, the monument will rise in a seafront park in Callao overlooking the Pacific Ocean. "Clear abuse of office" - Cardinal Müller criticises German bishops for their anti-AfD stance.
After the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party won 44% of the vote in Saxony-Anhalt, Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller accused German bishops of interfering in party politics in an interview with Kontrafunk.radio on 11 September.
When asked about the [Berlin Archbishop Heiner Koch's] idea that the Church could do without Catholics who vote the 'wrong' way, Müller responded: "In my view, this is quite simply a clear abuse of office."
The Church, he added, is "not a trade union".
"When it comes to party-political preferences, bishops have no right to call into question the civil rights of Catholics."
Müller also dismissed comparisons between the AfD and National Socialism as "far-fetched". Nazism was an ideology that was incompatible with Christianity. By contrast, the AfD has "a political programme that every individual citizen can judge for themselves".

Italian bishop has "converted" - but to the . Ten (!) bishops and below 200 participants gathered for a homosexual conference titled “Good Practices in Pastoral Ministry with Homo-Affective and Transgender People” at the General Curia of the Jesuits in Rome on September 4.
Among the bishops were:
- Archbishop Gherardo Gambelli of Florence;
- Archbishop Giuseppe Satriano of Bari-Bitonto;
- Bishop Antonio Napolioni of Cremona;
- Bishop Giampio Devasini of Chiavari;
- Archbishop Giampaolo Dianin of Gorizia;
- Bishop Francesco Savino of Cassano all’Jonio.
Four dioceses - Florence, Bari-Bitonto, Cremona and Chiavari - presented their existing homosexual programs.
These include dedicated diocesan teams, formation for priests and pastoral workers, accompaniment of families, and structures integrating ministry with homosexuals into ordinary diocesan pastoral work.

Leo XIV Approves Maronite Archbishop of Damascus
Today, Pope Leo XIV has approved the election of Sharbel Ghattas Maroun as the new Maronite Catholic archbishop of Damascus. A Lebanese-born priest, he has spent much of his ministry in the United States.
Archbishop Maroun, 64, was elected by the Synod of Bishops of the Maronite Church. He succeeds Archbishop Samir Nassar, 76, whose resignation was accepted by the synod.
Since 2020, Maroun has served as protosyncellus, a senior position comparable to vicar general, of the Maronite Eparchy of Our Lady of Lebanon of Los Angeles.
Born January 6, 1962, in Kfarselwan, Lebanon, Maroun briefly worked for Crédit Libanais bank.

Israeli Settler Who Attacked French Catholic Nun Acquitted
The Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court has acquitted Yona Simcha Schreiber, 36, of criminal responsibility for a violent attack on a French Catholic nun in April.
The court accepted psychiatric evidence that he was psychotic at the time of the assault. He could neither understand the nature of his actions nor control them, the court ruled.
He was ordered to undergo compulsory psychiatric hospitalization for up to six years.
The attack occurred on Mount Zion, near King David’s Tomb outside Jerusalem’s Old City. Security footage showed Schreiber running toward the 48-year-old nun from behind and knocking her violently to the ground, causing her head to strike the stone pavement.
Schreiber initially walked away before returning and kicking the nun while she remained on the ground. He also assaulted a passerby who attempted to intervene.
The victim is a researcher at the Dominican-run École Biblique et Archéologique Française de Jérusalem. …المزيد
